A Safer Path Home: Solving a Toronto Entryway

In many Toronto neighborhoods, the changing seasons and shifting soil can do a number on even the sturdiest concrete. This was exactly the case for a local homeowner whose front entrance had become a significant safety concern. Over time, the walkway slabs had settled so deeply that they created a massive tripping hazard right at the steps to the front door. Because the walkway had sunk away from the stairs, the "rise" of that first step had become dangerously high and uneven, making a simple walk to the door feel like a trek over broken ground.

Even though the concrete sections hadn't been perfectly flush or at the same height since the house was first built, the years of settling had made the situation much worse. The homeowners needed a solution that would bridge that gap and bring the entrance back into a safe, usable alignment. That’s when they called in Canadian Concrete Leveling.

Instead of a costly and disruptive "rip and replace" job, our team used our precision polyurethane injection process to address the root of the problem. We reached beneath the slabs to fill the voids and gently lift the concrete back toward its original position. We focused on closing those dangerous gaps and evening out the transition points that posed the greatest risk for a stumble.

The transformation was night and day. While the walkway started out disjointed and sunken, it was restored to a level of safety and stability it hadn't seen in years. By lifting the slabs to meet the steps properly, we eliminated the looming tripping hazard and gave the homeowners a smooth, predictable path to their door. It’s a perfect example of how targeted leveling can take a neglected, hazardous entrance and turn it back into a welcoming, worry-free home.

Eliminating a Trip Hazard in Toronto, ON

A home in Toronto, Ontario had a sinking slab on the front walkway. The walkway had cracked across the middle, and one half of the slab was sinking towards the crack creating a trip hazard and causing water to pool on the walkway after heavy rain. During the winter the pooling water in this area would freeze and cause a slip hazard as well. The customer wanted to fix this so that it would no longer be a safety hazard. 

The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling to fix the problem. Our Project Manager explained to the customer that it would be a quick fix and comes with a complete warranty. The installation team used our PolyLevel® Injection System to level the walkway, eliminating the trip hazard. PolyLevel® travels through the voids underneath the concrete and expands, allowing for us to lift the slab and stabilize the substrate to prevent further settlement. They covered the crack with NexusPro® Sealant to prevent water from making its way between the slabs again. The customer now has a safe and usable walkway. They were delighted that they could have the walkway fixed at a fraction of the cost of concrete replacement.

Pooling Water in Driveway, Toronto, ON

In Toronto, Ontario, a home had a sinking driveway on one side, which, unfortunately, led to water pooling and flooding into the homeowner's porch, about to compromise their foundation's integrity, and creating a sheet of ice in the winter months. Canadian Concrete Leveling was their best option since it is quick, permanent, and affordable without replacing the driveway slabs. 

Project Manager Kyle O'Brien arrived at the home to have a better look. Thankfully, the work that would have to be done can be completed in a day and take under one hour! The homeowners were thrilled to know how much it would cost and the little to no time that it would take to complete. Later that week, Installation Specialist, Mark Sealy, started to inject the lowest slabs with our high-density polyurethane called PolyLevel®. This will permanently fill the voids underneath and allow the slabs to lift to their original position. No more pooling issues at this Toronto home!
