When we were called to this home, the homeowners were frustrated with their back patio. Stretching 38 feet across the back of the house and extending 16 feet into the yard, this outdoor space had become a hazard. Over time, heavy subsurface erosion had caused the slab to settle unevenly, and the homeowner had noticed a noticeable 2-inch drop from the original level. This created a jarring gap at the sliding door and shifted the entire slope of the patio, making the space difficult and unsafe to use.
Upon inspection, it became clear that the soil beneath the slab had receded over the years, leaving hollows that could no longer support the weight of the concrete. A surface-level fix wouldn’t solve the problem—anything less than addressing the foundation itself would only result in the patio sinking again.
To restore the slab, we used high-density polyurethane injection, a precise and minimally invasive solution. We drilled small access points beneath the patio and injected the material into the voids left by eroded soil. As it expanded, the polymer filled every gap, compacted the loose subgrade, and lifted the entire slab back to its original level. The process corrected the 2-inch drop at the door threshold and restored the proper slope across the full 16-foot depth of the patio.
Unlike traditional methods that require heavy excavation and days of downtime, this approach allowed us to stabilize the entire slab quickly and efficiently. By the end of the day, the patio was once again level, safe, and fully functional—ready for summer entertaining, heavy foot traffic, and years of use without worry. The homeowners could finally enjoy their outdoor living space with peace of mind, knowing their patio now rests on a permanent, waterproof foundation designed to withstand the elements.
