Canadian Concrete Leveling Case Studies: Air Conditioning Unit Sinking with Concrete, Mississauga, ON

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019 by Stephanie Monticchio

Challenge

A home in Mississauga, Ontario, had a problem the patio slab their air conditioning unit was sitting on in the back yard. It had been sinking over the past few years. The neighbour was having the same issue as well. The concrete was sinking due to poor soil compaction when the patio was originally poured. The weight of the concrete and the heavy air conditioning unit compressed the soil in various areas causing the concrete slab to sink towards the home. It created a situation where water could start seeping into the house damaging possibly damaging the basement. leaving the customer with potential damages from water seepage. The customer also became concerned that the sinking concrete would bend and damage the air condition lines.

Solution

The customer called Canadian Concrete Leveling and discovered that we could fix the sinking concrete slab.

Billy McKeown, Installation Foreman, injected polyurethane through dime-sized holes in the concrete to lift and level the slabs. The polyurethane expands filling voids and compressing the substrate to lift, level and stabilize the concrete.

The customer was very happy that we were able to complete the lift on the patio and do so in a timely manner so that they could have their air conditioning unit up and running again.
