From Void to Stability: A PolyLevel Trent Lakes Slab Rescue
Challenge
Our team was called to a property in Trent Lakes after the contractor noticed unevenness and settling in the interior floor slab. A detailed inspection revealed the root cause: significant soil erosion beneath the foundation and exterior wall skirt. The “before” images highlighted substantial gaps and washouts at the base of the structure. This soil loss had created large, hidden voids beneath the slab, allowing portions of the floor to sink into unsupported spaces. Without prompt stabilization, continued settling could have caused serious structural damage and costly repairs.
Solution
The objective was to stabilize the sub-surface and prevent further slab movement. We employed an advanced polyurethane injection system, a minimally invasive technique that involves injecting a two-part, high-density polyurethane through small ports drilled into the slab. Once injected, the material rapidly expands, filling voids and compacting surrounding loose soil to provide continuous support beneath the concrete.
Our team executed the injection with precision, targeting all compromised areas. The expanding polyurethane not only filled the subterranean voids but also sealed exterior erosion gaps, effectively reinforcing the sub-grade and restoring the slab’s structural integrity. The “after” images clearly show a level, stable interior slab supported by a durable, waterproof system.
PolyLevel stands out for its speed, minimal disruption, and long-term effectiveness. By addressing the root cause—soil voids and erosion—rather than just the symptoms, this solution delivers permanent stabilization, protecting the structure against future settling.
