Leveling Without the Demo
Challenge
The homeowners were experiencing a significant settlement issue where their stamped concrete driveway met the garage floor. Over time, the underlying soil had compressed and shifted, causing the heavy decorative slabs to sink and form an uneven, jagged ledge at the entrance. This resulted in a noticeable “thump” each time a vehicle entered the garage and created a serious tripping hazard for the family. Compounding the issue, the driveway featured a custom stamped pattern, making a traditional rip-out and repour a poor solution—not only due to the high cost, but because matching the existing texture and colour would be extremely difficult.
Solution
Instead of demolition, we restored the driveway using our PolyLevel® polyurethane injection system. This minimally invasive process involved injecting a high-density expanding foam through small, penny-sized access points drilled in the concrete. As the material expanded, it filled the voids left by soil settlement, compacted the weak sub-base, and delivered a controlled, structural lift to bring the slabs back toward their original elevation. The result was a smooth, stable transition into the garage, improved load support beneath the driveway, and a long-term repair—all completed without disturbing the stamped finish the homeowners wanted to preserve.
