Sinking Concrete Creates Slippery Winter Entryway in Brampton, Ontario

When you see what looks like a major repair at your home, your mind can sometimes go to the worst-case scenario. If it’s something you’re familiar with, you know what the repair cost might be, but many don’t know where to turn in terms of sinking concrete.

In Brampton, Ontario, a customer reached out to us after growing tired of dealing with a sinking side walkway that created a considerable trip hazard. Water pooled right in front of the side door, and in the winter, the entry was unusable. He worried he would have to rip out and repour the entire slab but was presently surprised after meeting with Project Manager Danny Dos Santos.

Danny inspected the area and described how water could wash out soils beneath concrete, leading to sinking. Then, he explained how our PolyLevel® System works, using expanding polyurethane injections to lift the concrete while compressing foil materials below. Danny also showed him our NexusPro® Sealant, which prevents water from seeping through any seams. The customer was relieved and quickly set up a date for the repair.

Foreman Bill McKeown started by drilling dime-sized holes in the surface to use as injection ports. Next, he lifted the slab back to a safe height, ensuring that water would drain away from the door. Once we sealed the seam with NexusPro®, Bill finished the repair by patching the injection ports with fresh concrete.
