Busted Your Lip

One thing we can never seem to have enough of is storage space. Every inch of our basements, crawl spaces, attics and garages are all filled to the brim with stuff. Gathering is simply a natural human instinct and, in most cases, should be embraced. Staying prepared and proactive are important qualities to possess in a country like Canada. Canada has two extreme seasons that require drastically different footwear, clothing, and hobbies, hence our constant need for “stuff.” Like golfing in the winter or skiing in the summer, we must adapt our approach constantly to the changing weather season by season. Some climates are lucky enough to have one static season; for example, skiing in the Caribbean is unheard of, but golfing in February is wholly embraced. The people living in these relatively static environments have the fortunate luxury of sticking to one outfit, sport, and hobby all year round. Canadians, on the other hand, do not have that luxury, far from it.

Your storage space must be dry, clean, and accessible to you and your belongings. This customer in Toronto was experiencing cracking and heaving in their garage floor creating a large lip right through the middle of the space. Concerned about continued safe access and use of their storage area, they required a solution.

Initially the customer consulted with our Project Manager Kyle O’Brien, who answered any questions the customer may have been curious about. He then developed a custom non-invasive solution using our PolyLevel® technology to level their garage floor. Once the customer has approved the solution; the specifics and details of the project were forwarded over to our Installation Specialists.

After showing up early on-site to explain the process thoroughly to the customer, foreman Bill McKeown and his team began their installation of our unique and patented PolyLevel® system. After drilling small, dime-size holes into the garage floor, our polyurethane material is injected underneath the concrete. Following the path of least resistance, this strong material fills in gaps and voids, slowly and securely raising the entire slab of concrete. Once this process is complete, the initial holes are filled in, returning the concrete to its original look. The customer can now faithfully use their space to store their items without being concerned for their safety.

Sinking Driveway Creates Annoying Bump in Gormley, Ontario

Concrete is an excellent medium for builders to use, but wear and tear can break it down like all things.

A customer in Gormley, Ontario, noticed his garage floor had cracked and was starting to sink. The problem was getting worse as time went on, so he decided to reach out to Canadian Concrete Leveling for a solution.

Project Manager Joe McColl met with the customer and completed a thorough inspection of the garage floor. Joe explained how a phenomenon called “street creep” can send pressure from the road up to a private driveway and garage. Joe showed the homeowner a demonstration of our PolyLevel® System, and a date was booked for the repair.

Foreman Bill McKeown started drilling As it’s injected, dime-sized holes in the concrete to inject our high-density polyurethane through the driveway. The polyurethane expands, compresses loose soil below and lifts the concrete. PolyLevel® cures in a matter of minutes and weighs 10% less than other lifting methods.

With his driveway repaired, the customer is extremely grateful for the work provided by Canadian Concrete Leveling. He was excited to use his garage later that same day and is happy to report there’s no more annoying bump to drive over.

Leveling Out Modern Home's Concrete Patio, Stouffville, ON

Renovations were slowly underway before this homeowner sells their house in Stouffville, ON. When prepping to put this one-of-a-kind home on the market, the homeowner knew some upkeep needed to be done around the house. The cedar walling had bleached away and needed re-staining, the deck outside needed to be gutted, and the concrete pads around the pool had started to sink every which way. The contractor she hired contacted Canadian Concrete Leveling for an appointment and also to support a local business. Our Project Manager, Kyle O'Brien, met with the homeowner to see how we could level all the pads without interrupting the contractor. This would be no problem with our PolyLevel® System, our minimal invasion solution. Connecting with the contractor, he mentioned that he would need new sealant around the pool. This was a great segue for Kyle to mention that our NexusPro® sealant would be the best option.

Our Installation Foreman and Installation Specialist arrived. The scope of work was a small pad to the side of the home and underneath the outdoor kitchen. The contractor took it upon himself to remove the shelving for our team to access the spot better. The job was straightforward, from unloading, installation, and cleanup. Before the installation, the contractor informed us that he had drawn a marker on the wall to indicate where the countertop sat before, and he was amazed to find out that we lifted the concrete more than 2 inches higher. The homeowner walked around the property at and was blown away by the seamless results.

Steering Clear of Trips and Falls

Uneven concrete is much more than an eyesore. It can also be a safety hazard.

This homeowner in Gormley, ON, called Canadian Concrete Leveling when they noticed two slabs on their driveway were sinking. They were directed to Project Manager, Paul Mendell. He explained to Paul that their main concern was a potential tripping hazard, and they didn’t want to be liable for an injury that could have been avoided. Another fear they had was for the snow plow that came to clear their driveway off in the winter. Hitting the uneven slabs could easily damage the equipment and make for an expensive repair.

Our trusted installation team happily used Canadian Concrete Leveling’s PolyLevel® polyurethane injection system to lift the settled slab back to its original height. Our PolyLevel® is a superior choice because it’s waterproof, cures quickly, is non-invasive and is very adjustable.

In only a couple of hours, the homeowner’s peace of mind was restored. They didn’t have to worry about someone getting injured or pay a hefty bill to fix a damaged plow in the winter. They also could not get over how quickly the lead installer and his team completed the job along with leaving the site so clean!

Patio in Washago, Ontario Started Sinking Affecting the Home's Foundation

It's that time of year to clean up the back patio, uncover all the furniture, and get the grill ready, but there was one problem when setting up this space. In Washago, Ontario, this concrete back patio had started to sink and crack. The homeowners were worried about how much this fix would cost. In addition, the concrete was now angled so that when rainwater would land on top, it would get directed toward the home's foundation. Only half the concrete was sinking which resulted in it cracking down the middle. Weighing their options, they decided to have the pros at Canadian Concrete Leveling handle the situation.

Our most experienced Project Manager, Paul Mendell, arrived at the home to recommend two products that would leave the patio levelled back to its standard height and sealed from all the elements. Our Installation Supervisor began the leveling process using our PolyLevel® Injection System. High-density, quick-expanding polyurethane is injected through the concrete to fill voids and stabilize the soil below. PolyLevel® is a lightweight and long-lasting solution for all sinking concrete. To seal everything together and protect the PolyLevel®, the crew used our NexusPro® sealant. The homeowners were amazed by the professionalism and swiftness of the work. Now it's time to get that patio back in action.
