Sinking Concrete Postpones New Deck Build in North York, Ontario

When you make a significant investment or repair at your home, you want to make sure everything else is in proper working order too.

A customer in North York, Ontario, was getting ready to install a new wooden deck in their backyard. The deck sits flush with the pool deck, but the pool slabs had settled away from the deck over time. This created a tripping hazard between the two materials.

The customer wanted to fix the concrete before redoing the deck, so he reached out to Canadian Concrete Leveling. Project Manager Kyle O’Brien met with the customer and inspected the backyard. Kyle determined that soils had washed away from beneath the slabs. The customer wasn’t sure how we could fill the void without removing any concrete, so Kyle showed him a video demonstrating our PolyLevel® System.

As PolyLevel® is injected through dime-sized holes, it expands beneath the concrete. This process lifts the concrete while compressing any fill material below and filling any gaps. Once the repair is done, we patch the injection ports with fresh concrete. Foreman Bill McKeown worked hard repairing the concrete before showing the customer the completed work.

The customer is relieved we were able to repair the concrete before replacing the deck. He appreciates that we didn’t have to bring any heavy equipment through his backyard and enjoyed watching the process take place.

Cracked and Sinking Concrete Porch, Toronto ON

Winter was coming in full force and our client in Toronto, Ontario wanted to fix their front porch to prevent tripping hazards. The porch was sinking about 1.5 inches to the one side of the house. This resulted in our new client calling  Canadian Concrete leveling to sort the issue quickly yet permanently. Our team had installed Polylevel® injections on the lowered points and raised the concrete to the leveled height. With only 60 minutes to cure, and beat the snow, the job was done within 1.5 hours. The porch was back to its original state and ready for guests on Christmas!

This Walkway Is Sloping In The Wrong Direction, Toronto, ON

This walkway running alongside the home was sinking all over the place, causing tripping hazards and water dripping into the home's foundation. The homeowners needed a solution that would not cost them a fortune, take as little time as possible, and be a permanent fix. After some research, they found Canadian Concrete Leveling to do the work. We sent our Project Manager, Joe McColl, to the home and began his quote. He devised a schematic that the whole side walkway would need PolyLevel® injections to the point the inward slanting would slant outward and have water bead off the concrete and onto the lawn rather than in the foundation.

After the quote was given out, it was time to send our Installation Specialist, Bill McKeown. He began by unloading the truck and drilling holes in the lowest points on the walkway. After the holes were placed, it was time to hammer out PolyLevel® caps in them where the machine's nozzle will connect. From there, but was time to inject the polyurethane into the voids underneath. The fascinating thing about PolyLevel® is that you can see the slab rise immediately. At first, it doesn't seem like much is happening because the voids underneath need to be filled, but the second they do, it lifts before your eyes! The homeowners were very impressed with the results and how little time it took to complete.

Sinking Concrete Makes Mail Runs Dangerous in Toronto, Ontario

Having a beautiful property is a sense of pride for many people. We make sure our home is looking its best no matter what. When the yard or the house needs attention, it becomes a top priority on the ever-popular to-do list.

An older couple in Toronto, Ontario, decided to call Canadian Concrete Leveling to look at their sinking front porch. The section directly below their mailbox had settled, and each winter, water would pool and freeze. It made it difficult to get the mail safely, and they didn’t like how the front of the house looked as a result.

Project Manager Kyle O'Brien met with the couple and inspected their front porch.  They were happy to hear how easily our solution can be installed, and they excitedly booked a date for the repair.

Foreman Bill McKeown injected our PolyLevel® high-density polyurethane beneath the concrete slab to lift the concrete. This application also compresses fill soils below to prevent this issue from returning. Once Kyle was done, he patched the injection holes with fresh concrete.

The couple is delighted with the repair. They were impressed with how easy the installation was and our team's professionalism. Unfortunately, they've dealt with dishonest contractors before but were very happy to find an honest company to deal with finally.
